Magipics has produced a science animation for the Monash Centre for Atomically Thin Materials. This animation is an introduction to FLEET (ARC Centre of Excellence in Future Low-Energy Electronics Technologies). It describes research into new types of transistors in which an electrical current can flow without resistance at room temperature. These novel transistors have the potential for vastly lower energy consumption, thereby transforming the future of information technology. This is of vital importance in today’s world of rapidly increasing demand for computation.
One significant challenge in this animation project involved creating a scientifically plausible visual representation of the somewhat abstract concept of “holes”, i.e. the absence of electrons.
Make sure your volume is on, as narration is included.
The background music is composed and recorded by MAGIPICS.
The animation can also be viewed on the FLEET website.
Enjoy!
